Just when you begin to think your computer is an irritating box of problems, it goes and finds a new way to impress you. I finally set up Skype on my computer, and I must say, that is one nifty program.
Last night Supraja and I had an hour-long chat via Skype, and the whole time I couldn’t help but think, I’m having a real conversation, complete with voices and everything, on the computer.
(Yes, technology easily amuses me. You should have seen my reaction when I finally discovered the satellite option on Google maps a couple months ago. It was like a broke teenager discovering credit cards.)
I hesitated downloading Skype earlier because I wanted to ask my host mom if I’d have regular Internet access at the apartment. So I called her up on Tuesday to ask that, and also to make sure she knew I was coming on Saturday. (I figured that was kind of an important thing to check - I’m not sure how well the Spanish do with surprises.)
After wishing her a happy new year and letting her know when I’d be arriving, I asked about the Internet. While her response began with, “Oh, yes, yes,” she then proceeded to mention something about luggage multiple times before laughing heartily.
Huh? Did I miss something?
Oh boy…this is going to be interesting.
